The GIMA Awards 2016 – held on 14th July at Celtic Manor – highlight the best of the best in the garden retail industry. Amongst the brands celebrating were Wilkinson Sword, named as finalists in the ‘Garden Tools, Machinery and Implements’ category for their innovative Ultralight Hedge Shears.

The Ultralight Hedge Shears feature an 8” non-stick coated blade, for a clean and defined cut. Aluminium handles provide the combination of strength and low weight, whilst the soft grip handles make these hedge shears satisfying to hold and use. With a total weight of a mere 670 gm, the Ultralight Hedge Shears are perfect to help reduce fatigue, a factor that the GIMA judges clearly saw to be a major plus-point.

Nick Hills, Lawn and Garden General Manager, commented, “We are thrilled to have received this recognition for the Ultralight range. The tools within the range make gardening truly accessible to everyone, and GIMA’s acknowledgement of the quality of the design means the world to us. We’ve recently noticed a growing trend from other companies launching lightweight options but what makes these products unique is that Wilkinson Sword are the first to come to the market with cutting tools – others have focussed on digging.”

The shears are part of the Ultralight range, which also consists of the Ultralight Bypass Loppers and the Ultralight Branch and Shrub Cutter. The whole range delivers strong, expertly crafted and stylish garden tools in a comfortable, ultralight package, with an emphasis being placed on low weight, without sacrificing any of the cutting power associated with the highly regarded brand, a brand with over 100 years’ experience in creating cutting edge garden tools.

The Ultralight Bypass Loppers, similarly to the shears, have been designed to minimise physical effort and increase efficiency of each cut. The bypass, non-stick coated blade is perfect for young, green wood, with the 25mm cutting capacity providing a precise, defined cut whilst the sap groove directs sap away from the cutting blade. Through the use of strong and lightweight materials this lopper is able to provide the power that you need, whilst weighing in at just 450 gm. The extruded aluminium handles deliver strength and lightness, with the added benefit of soft, comfortable grips, ensuring that you are able to glide through hours of lopping with ease.

The Ultralight Branch and Shrub Cutter is perfect cutting out any damaged, badly placed, and crossing branches. The cutter will handle branches up to 25mm diameter and the sliding handle mechanism pulls an internal stainless steel wire through the 1.6m long lightweight aluminium pole.

The GIMA recognised Ultralight Hedge Shears retail at £29.99.

The Ultralight Bypass Loppers retail at £29.99 and the Ultralight Branch and Shrub Cutter retails at £49.99.
