Mercury Enertia propeller rewrites physics
The new Mercury Enertia propeller improves the acceleration and top speed of many outboard and sterndrive powered boats.
Enertia is cast from Mercury’s patent-pending X7 alloy that is exclusive to Mercury, so no other propeller company can copy Enertia’s groundbreaking design without seriously compromising durability. According to Mercury engineers, X7 Alloy is four times more durable and 30 percent stronger than conventional stainless steels.
Improving hole shot and top speed with the same propeller is virtually unheard of in the marine industry. Typically, if a prop change improved acceleration it would diminish top speed, and vice versa. Because the strength of X7 Alloy allows for thinner blades, Enertia can provide gains in both acceleration and top speed. Mercury tested Enertia on a 24ft centre console boat powered by a 250 Mercury Verado engine. Compared to a conventional stainless steel prop, the same pitch Enertia improved the boat’s acceleration time by more than 20 percent from 0 to 20mph and 0 to 30mph. The top speed also improved by two miles per hour.
Enertia is available in one-inch pitch increments from 14 to 22 inches in standard rotation for easy dial-in on a wide variety of applications. There are also counter rotation models in 15, 17, 19 and 21 inch pitches to fit many twin and triples engine boats.
Enertia is available now from Mercury Authorised Dealers.
