Barrus show latest engine line-up at SED
Barrus will be showing the latest emission-certified Tier 3/Stage III A engines from John Deere and Yanmar, and introducing the new Kohler Courage engine range.
The John Deere Tier 3/Stage III A engines include the PowerTech 9.0L, and the 13.5L. These two new tough-duty diesels boast a combined power range from 168kW to 448kW (225hp to 600hp).
What makes these two engines different than their 8.1L and the 12.5L predecessors is more than just their larger displacement and Tier 3/Stage III A emissions compliance. These engines share some innovative features that add performance, reliability and fuel economy with minimal changes to engine dimensions.
The goal with the Tier 3/Stage III A engines was to meet emissions regulations without sacrificing peak torque, low speed torque, or transient response time. John Deere has achieved this goal (exceeding it in some areas), and now offers these engines with the same platform and similar costs to the Tier 2/Stage II engines.
The new Kohler Courage engine line offering the largest displacement and most powerful output of any single cylinder engine currently available, will be introduced at SED. The vertical shaft engine which is available in six models up to 20hp, provides Original Equipment Manufacturers in the garden machinery market a cost efficient premium engine with unique features, including a patented dual-cam design and cross flow cylinder head. Other features patent pending include full-pressure lubrication, a tri-phase air induction system and a ported-power intake. The Courage line, which exceeds current EPA and CARB emission standards, also features an OHV design, electronic ignition, cast-iron cylinder liner and a patent pending reciprocating balance system.
Barrus will also be showing the Yanmar TNV Series of all-purpose vertical diesel engines that cover a wide range of applications including construction machinery, agricultural machinery, generators, pumps, and vehicles. These engines are compliant with Tier 2 legislation and will meet Tier 3/Stage III A in the future. This will maintain Yanmar’s reputation as a leading manufacturer of diesel engines and build on the success already achieved with the TNE engines.
