New EFI four-strokes at 25hp and 30hp

The all-new Mariner and Mercury three-cylinder 25hp (18.4kW) and 30hp (22.1kW) electronic fuel injection (EFI) four-strokes offer a range of features typically reserved for much larger engines.

Replacing the existing 25hp BigFoot and 30hp EFI four-stroke models, the new engines come with updated Verado style graphics and a modified cowl to further differentiate them from their predecessors.

The weight of the new 25hp EFI is just 71kg, which is 10kg less than the previous 25hp BigFoot. The new 30hp EFI weighs in at 78kg, which is 28kg lighter than the replaced version. Light weight has not compromised performance or stability. The 526cc powerheads have been designed for maximum acceleration and top speed. They also have the marine industry’s lowest noise vibration harshness measurements, aided by a sound-reducing tuned cowl induction system.

Both the manual and electric start Mariner and Mercury models are electronically fuel injected. These are the first manual start EFI four-strokes in the industry and it is the first time that there has been a 25hp EFI outboard. Also they are the boating industry’s first battery free manual start EFI four-strokes. Combined with standard decompression, it provides fast, easy starting and smooth running.
Other features include thermostatic control water-cooling, single overhead cam fuel induction, CDI ignition with electric spark advance, over-revving protection, wet sump lubrication and through-prop exhaust.

The new models are available in Short (381mm) and Long (508mm) shaft lengths, remote control or tiller, and manual, gas assistor power trim and tilt. Tiller versions feature Mercury Marine’s exclusive shift-in-handle assembly. Both models meet European emissions regulations.
