Accompanied by Victoria Prentis, the Conservative MP for Banbury and North Oxfordshire, they met with senior management and engineers from the company’s Special Products Division, a dedicated team who work with specialist organisations on projects for the MoD, the RNLI, the professional rescue services, and other government and commercial organisations.

After a short presentation, there was a tour of Barrus’s production and engine test facilities which included Mariner and Mercury outboard engine developments, and Yanmar and John Deere inboard engine applications. Mr Williamson viewed the latest Mariner mine hunting outboard engine, the latest four-stroke Post Immersion Restart engine (PIRS®) and the Mariner 50hp outboard engine capable of running on four fuels (diesel, petrol and both military kerosene fuels) developed to satisfy the MoD’s single-fuel policy.

“We were delighted to host the visit of the Secretary of State for Defence and to be able to demonstrate our capabilities as the leading custom-engine builder and how we play our part in supporting the MoD and other vital specialist organisations,” commented Robert Glen, Chairman of E.
