Engine Build Line Supervisor


We are looking for an experienced and motivated Engine Build Line Supervisor to lead and coordinate our engine rebuild assembly line. In this hands on supervisory role, you’ll ensure production targets are met, engines are built to the highest technical and quality standards, and the team works safely and efficiently.

You’ll oversee day-to-day workflow, support and develop build technicians, troubleshoot issues, and help drive continuous improvement across the build line.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of engine builders/technicians
  • Allocate work, monitor progress, and ensure production deadlines are met
  • Oversee the full engine build process, ensuring compliance with all build standards and instructions
  • Provide technical support and resolve build or quality issues as they arise
  • Conduct quality checks and ensure engines are completed to the required standard
  • Raise quotations for rebuilds and services
  • Carry out repairs and overhauls
  • Train new technicians and support ongoing skill development within the team
  • Maintain accurate production records, documentation, and time capture
  • Ensure safe working practices, shop floor organisation, and equipment care
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Technical, Engineering, and Quality teams
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives

 

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Solid experience in engine building, engine assembly, or mechanical production
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a workshop or production environment
  • Strong technical understanding of engine components and build processes
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings, manuals, and build specifications
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and priorities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to guide, develop, and motivate a team
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety in a workshop or assembly environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality

 

Desirable:

  • Experience with diesel or petrol engine assembly lines
  • Engineering, mechanical, or automotive qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds)
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments
  • Forklift licence
