JDPS expands Next Generation Engine lineup with new 5.0L and 7.5L engines
LAS VEGAS (March 3, 2026) — John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is bringing A New Era in Power to CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, presenting a versatile lineup designed to meet the industry's evolving demands. Located in the West Hall (Booth W40442), JDPS is debuting the latest additions to the Next Generation Engine (NGE) lineup: the new JD5 and JD8 industrial engines.
The new engines serve as a cornerstone of the exhibit, representing a strategy centered on customer choice. By delivering the right solution for the right application, JDPS reinforces its commitment to a multiple-pathway approach. This includes advancing next-generation diesel engines, enabling compatibility with renewable fuels, and integrating battery technology in applications where it delivers the most value — all supported by comprehensive aftermarket and customer support solutions.

Introducing the JD5 and JD8
The upcoming JD5 and JD8 industrial engines will join the Next Generation Engine (NGE) lineup to offer more flexible power solutions as we work to meet the diverse needs of our OEM customers. The JD5 is a 5.0L engine that will offer an anticipated power range of 125–268 hp (93–200 kW), and the JD8 is a 7.5L engine that will offer an anticipated power range of 250–389 hp (187–290 kW). The JD5 and JD8 will enhance power options in key mid-range applications where power density and installation flexibility are critical. Furthermore, they will be compatible with renewable diesel fuel and biodiesel blends.
The anticipated launch for the lead application of the JD8 is intended for 2029, followed by the JD5. All timing and final specifications are subject to change based on program requirements.
Advanced Electrification and Charging Solutions
JDPS is also showcasing the latest in KREISEL Electric (KREISEL) batteries. This advanced battery technology is designed to prioritize runtime, energy density, and seamless integration.
On display are the KBE.59.750M, which is targeted for production later this year, as well as the KBE.24.450S, KBE.39.750S, and KBE.39.750C. These batteries utilize Dynamic Performance Management, which combines patented cell immersion cooling technology with advanced software systems. This technology is engineered to optimize performance across the battery life, ensuring efficiency even at extreme temperatures while maintaining industry-leading safety standards that help prevent thermal propagation.
Key features of the KREISEL lineup on display include:
- Modular Architecture: The system allows for multipack configurations, enabling stacking to suit a wide range of vehicle types.
- Freedom of Placement: Batteries are engineered to allow flexible orientation and installation options, simplifying integration for off-highway machinery.
- Optimized Lifetime: The low temperature spread throughout the module keeps cells within the same range to maximize battery longevity.
To support the transition to electric, JDPS is also highlighting a versatile charging ecosystem. Recognizing that grid infrastructure is not always available on jobsites, the company is developing both stationary and mobile charging options with varying power outputs. This includes concepts unveiled at bauma 2025 designed to be deployed quickly and easily wherever they are needed, ensuring adaptable support for electric-powered construction machinery.
To provide deeper insight into these critical infrastructure strategies, John Deere is hosting an educational session featuring Preston Moore, Manager, Power Solutions - Electric Powertrain and Charging Systems at JDPS. The presentation, titled "The Missing Link: Charging Infrastructure and BEV Adoption at the Edge of the Grid," will take place on Wednesday, March 4 at 1 p.m. in West Hall, Room 203.
Moore will lead a forward-looking exploration of how to power remote operations, moving beyond the vehicle itself to discover how strategically designed charging infrastructure unlocks the true potential of off-highway BEVs. Attendees will gain critical insights into battery technology, duty cycles, and the integrated charging solutions needed to electrify fleets, with a focus on why a holistic approach is crucial for success in the evolving construction landscape.
