Mercury Marine Launches New 6HP EFI Outboard Engine - Compact Power with Big Performance

FOND DU LAC, Wis., (September 23, 2025) — Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), announced the launch of its new 6HP EFI outboard engine. Built on Mercury’s proven 209cc 8/9.9HP EFI platform, this high-displacement model delivers exceptional torque and quick, reliable starts for small boat applications.

Engineered for Performance and Simplicity 

The 6HP EFI model features a unique calibration which provides reliable starting in all weather conditions and outstanding fuel efficiency.  In addition, Mercury’s exclusive multi-function tiller handle allows boaters to shift gears and control throttle with one hand, by simply twisting the grip.  Offered in a variety of tiller handle and remote control configurations, the 6HP EFI is ideal for rental fleets and recreational users operating boats up to 15 feet or 4.6 meters in length.  High displacement delivers strong torque and precise control, even on heavier boats, while EFI ensures quick starts and fuel efficiency.

The 6HP EFI includes Smart Features and Maintenance-Free Design:  

·         A feature-rich ergonomic tiller handle for intuitive control 

·         Ratcheting clamp bracket for easy tilt 

·         No oil filter or valve lash adjustments required 

·         Quick-connect freshwater flush system 

These enhancements make the engine not only powerful but also easy to maintain and operate. 

The new 6HP EFI will debut at the upcoming Le Grand Pavois boat show in La Rochelle, France, from September 23–28, marking Mercury’s entry into a high-potential segment with a product built for performance, simplicity, and market relevance.
